Cambridge Mobile Telematics Named to TIME100 Companies: Industry Leaders List in AI
Recognized for AI that is shifting mobility from reacting to crashes to preventing them, protecting 65 million drivers and helping prevent more than 126,000 crashes worldwide
Cambridge, MA — April 29, 2026 — Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), the world’s largest telematics and AI company for safer mobility, today announced it has been named to TIME’s inaugural TIME100 Companies: Industry Leaders list in the AI sector. The list is a new shortlist within TIME’s annual TIME100 Most Influential Companies franchise, recognizing 200 companies making an extraordinary impact in their industries.
To assemble the list, TIME solicited nominations across sectors and polled its global network of contributors and correspondents, as well as outside experts. TIME editors then evaluated each company on key factors including impact, innovation, ambition, and success.
CMT was recognized for AI that is reshaping road safety at global scale. Its DriveWell Fusion® platform has measured and protected more than 65 million drivers in 25 countries, analyzes risk in real time, and helps insurers, automakers, commercial mobility companies, and public sector agencies prevent crashes before they occur. To date, CMT’s technology has helped prevent more than 126,000 crashes.
Two recent advances anchor CMT’s recognition. DriveWell Atlas, the first foundation model for mobility, learns the underlying physics of force, motion, and trajectory across CMT’s global driving data — uncovering new patterns of risk and enabling more precise crash prediction and prevention. StreetVision, CMT’s AI road-safety platform, gives state and city transportation agencies street-level visibility into where crashes are most likely to occur, allowing them to prioritize countermeasures and measure their impact in days rather than years.
CMT’s AI also engages drivers directly. Capabilities including Crash Detection, Roadside Assistance, and Universal Rewards support drivers before, during, and after every trip — turning safe driving into a sustained habit and providing real-time help when drivers need it most.
The same engagement is producing measurable environmental impact. Through AI-powered feedback and behavioral programs, CMT has helped drivers reduce carbon emissions by 3.6 million metric tons, equivalent to removing approximately 790,000 cars from the road each year.
“Road crashes are one of the leading causes of death in the world, and behind every number is a family and community changed forever,” said William V. Powers, Co-Founder and CEO of CMT. “We started CMT because we believed that we could save lives on the road. AI is changing what’s possible — we can see risk on the road earlier than ever, help drivers improve, and give cities the insight to prevent crashes instead of reacting to them. We’re honored by TIME’s recognition, but the work that matters is still ahead of us. Safer roads are within reach, and we owe it to every driver and every family to get there.”
