March 27, 2024

JEFFERSON CITY, MO & CAMBRIDGE, MA, March 27, 2024 — The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety (MCRS), Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), Missouri Employers Mutual (MEM), and AAA Missouri invite Missouri businesses to take on the “Show Me Your Score Safest Driver Challenge.” With over $15,000 in prizes, the safe driving challenge engages Missouri drivers, with qualified Missouri businesses, in a statewide effort to improve driving habits and reduce crashes.

Safest driver programs like Missouri’s “Show Me Your Score Safest Driver Challenge” have proven to reduce road risk. In prior safe driving contests powered by CMT, drivers have reduced their risk significantly, decreasing distracted driving by 48%, speeding by 38%, and hard braking by 57%. A CMT estimate shows that Missouri could prevent 2,300 crashes, 10 fatalities, and $91 million in economic damages by reducing distracted driving by 10%.

“By partnering with CMT, MCRS, and MEM we are leveraging cutting-edge technology and widespread community engagement to make Missouri’s roads safer,” said Angela Nelson, Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Relations for AAA Missouri. “This challenge is not just about winning prizes — it’s about building a culture of safety that lasts well beyond the contest.”

The Show Me Your Score Safest Driver Challenge opens on April 1, 2024, and will run through June 9, 2024. The challenge enables Missouri businesses to demonstrate their commitment to road safety and compete for a grand prize of $10,000. To qualify, businesses must be Missouri based and have at least 10 employees, adopt a safe driving policy, and have 25 employees or 25% of their workforce participate, whichever they meet first. In addition to the $10,000 grand prize for the winning business, the highest-scoring driver during the contest period has the chance to win a grand prize of $5,000. Safe drivers can also win weekly prizes from AAA Missouri.

“Missouri’s Siddens Bening Hands-Free Law reduced distraction by 7.8% compared to one month before the law began. This reduction is just the start of a collective impact on road safety,” said Ryan McMahon, Senior Vice President of Strategy for CMT. “The ‘Show Me Your Score Safest Driver Challenge’ leverages this momentum, fostering safer driving practices statewide. It’s a testament to how technology and community efforts can further enhance safety on our roads.”

After a qualifying business is registered, employees compete by downloading the free DriveWell Go app. Once logged in, the app will automatically score participants driving trips based on speed, braking, accelerating, cornering, and phone distraction. The business with the highest average scoring employees over the contest period will win the $10,000 business grand prize. The employee with the highest average driving score over the contest period will win the $5,000 individual grand prize.
