Nationwide: More Drivers Would Use Telematics Apps, but They Don't Know About Them

Nationwide insurance recently shared data from its Agency Forward research survey on their blog that shows the next step for wider telematics adoption should be agent and driver education. According to Nationwide, who partners with CMT for their SmartRide app for personal and commercial lines, almost half of all drivers surveyed (45 percent) want the technology, but less than a third of them (30 percent) have been offered a telematics-based policy.

Respondents also showed that once they understood the technology, they had fewer privacy concerns about telematics than personalized ad-supported streaming video services or voice assistants like Siri or Alexa.
